While a number of Ganbare Goemon-based manga were made back in the peak of its popularity, none have become quite as successful as the adaptations made by ecchi mangaka Hiroshi Obi in Comic BonBon magazine.

Beginning in 1991 with Ganbare Goemon: Yuki-hime Kyuushutsu Emaki, Obi had put his own spin on the series making it remarkedly different than the games in many aspects such as character personalities. The combination of action, comedy and gratuitous fanservice helped the manga to thrive.

With a total of 9 books under his belt, Obi finally ended the series in 1997 after the release of Ganbare Goemon: Neo Momoyama Bakufu no Odori. Currently no plans are being made for a reprint, as Comic BonBon suspended publication in 2007.
