Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Dōchū Designer passes away 26 Feb 2020
Kazuhisa Hashimoto, a Konami veteran who worked some of their earliest classics has unfortunately passed away at the reported age of 61. This was confirmed by Yuji Takenouch on Twitter (An ex-Konami Sound Designer): コナミコマンド「上上下下左右左右BA」の生みの親であるプログラマーの橋本和久さんが、昨夜、亡くなられたとのこと。ご冥福をお祈りいたします。 — TECHNOuchi ♓️🅰 (@TECHNOuchi) February 26, 2020 Konami also offered the following statement: We are saddened to hear about the passing of Kazuhisa Hashimoto, a deeply talented producer who first introduced the world to the "Konami Code". Our thoughts are with Hashimoto-san's family and friends at this time. Rest In Peace. pic.twitter.com/vQijEQ8lU2 — Konami (@Konami) February 26, 2020 While Hashimoto-san will be vastly remembered for the famous Konami code, there's a larger significance to Goemon fans in that Hashimoto-san worked as a Designer on the first entry of the Ganbare Goemon series: Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Dōchū. This title brought Goemon to Famicom and MSX where it gained acclaim, planting a seed that would eventually bloom into the popular Ganbare Goemon franchise! Without Hashimoto-san, would this website exist today? Our thoughts are with Hashimoto-san's family at this time. May we honour his legacy by firing up a copy of Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Dōchū.
