An interesting development just occurred on eBay, where an alleged "Final-burn" of the unreleased & localised PS2 title "Mystical Ninja Goemon" (Bōken Jidai Katsugeki) from the now-defunct Working Designs sold for $10,000 on eBay (+$30 shipping).
Unfortunately we have no information on who bought it, or what their plans are, but we can only hope they dump this one-of-a-kind rare item.
The story of "Mystical Ninja Goemon" is that Working Designs, a game company revered for its Localisation work, got permission to translate the 2000 Konami title "Goemon: Bōken Jidai Katsugeki". The localisation was nearing finalisation, but the plug was pulled at the last moment. It has been speculated that this was due to Sony's involvement, though no official statement was ever given.
You can view the Sold eBay listing here, which contains some rather tantalising photos. The seller is also ( at the time of this post) selling some rare "Wacky Goemon" plushies that were given out at E3 2002.
If you have any additional information about this sale, we would love to hear from you.
EDIT: There's been a few confirmations on Twitter that disc is in "good hands", so we are hopeful! I will be keeping an eye on the situation, and report accordingly.
