Konami applies for new Goemon Trademark

Japanese Nintendo has reported that Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. have recently applied for a new trademark on "ゴエモン" (Goemon) in Japan. The trademark covers a wide array of purposes, including "game program" and "game software".

There's not much else to go on except speculation. This may be Konami just making sure that their Intellectual Property is secured for future merchandising purposes, or perhaps for other projects. Time will tell, but it is an interesting development.
