Ukiyo-Goe - A brief look at Ukiyo-e in Goemon games
24 Jun 2022

Over on YouTube we've released a new video that gives a brief look at Ukiyo-e in Goemon games!

Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese art which started in the 17th century. An artist would draw their piece then get it carved into a woodblock allowing it to be replicated many times by rubbing ink and paper over the wood. Ukiyo-e became very popular in Japan, and eventually, the world (even inspiring Vincent van Gogh).

As Ukiyo-e strongly ties with Japanese culture, it's little surprise to see these famous pieces appear in Goemon - a series, which to many, was their first experience of Japan.
